GAFG was set up in September 2007 at a meeting in the Lomond Centre attended by members of local community councils, churches, tenants’ and residents’ associations and Glenrothes Youth Voice.
The aim of the group, as stated in its constitution, is “to ascertain, co-ordinate and express the views of the communities in Glenrothes and the surrounding area. It will encourage and promote community participation and a sense of community spirit within Glenrothes and the surrounding area”.
“Where IS this better Glenrothes area?”
At the first meeting of GAFG it was agreed the Futures Group focus should initially be on four topics:
Regular Meetings are held to monitor, report and study the progress of the first two priority topics.
Open Meetings have already been held about both the A92 and proposed town centre developments – more are being arranged. These have been very successful.
Meanwhile, the office bearers continue to investigate these matters and will report back with
findings.Liaison takes place with various officials and politicians both local and national.
Your Part! - is to contact us with suggestions/ideas - e.g. cinema?, eating venues, fair trading, how to make sure this area is unique in Fife and Scotland.
The aim is always the same - i.e. the betterment of the whole Glenrothes Area in what we consider this forgotten part of Fife.
